Referral criteria for suspected gallbladder cancer:

  • Refer patients using a suspected cancer pathway referral if there is an upper abdominal mass consistent with an enlarged gallbladder.
  • Consider an urgent direct access ultrasound scan to be done within 2 weeks if an upper abdominal mass consistent with an enlarged gallbladder is identified.

These criteria aim to ensure timely specialist assessment and further investigation for gallbladder cancer.
