Multidisciplinary team members involved in the care and management of a patient diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma should include:
- Oncologists (medical and clinical oncologists) to oversee chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment planning and delivery.
- Orthopaedic or sarcoma surgeons for surgical management of the primary tumour and any metastases.
- Radiologists to perform and interpret imaging for diagnosis, staging, and treatment response assessment.
- Pathologists to provide histopathological diagnosis and molecular characterisation of the tumour.
- Specialist nurses or key workers to coordinate care, provide patient support, and liaise with primary care and community services.
- Palliative care specialists to manage symptoms and provide supportive care throughout the disease course.
- Physiotherapists and rehabilitation specialists to assist with functional recovery and mobility post-treatment.
- Psychosocial support staff including psychologists or counsellors to address emotional and mental health needs.
This multidisciplinary approach ensures comprehensive care from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up, consistent with UK cancer service standards for sarcomas and other malignancies requiring complex management NICE NG234,NICE CG104,NICE NG47.
