The NICE guidelines recommend that first-line treatment for nocturnal enuresis in children includes the use of an alarm and/or desmopressin, especially if previous courses have not been effective .

For children who have not responded to these initial treatments, further review and assessment are advised to identify factors associated with poor response, such as an overactive bladder or social and emotional factors .

Additionally, behavioral interventions such as dry-bed training are not recommended as first-line treatments .
