For the initial assessment of suspected primary bone cancer in primary care, a plain X-ray is recommended as the first imaging modality. If the X-ray suggests the possibility of bone sarcoma, urgent referral for specialist assessment should be considered. If the X-ray results are negative or inconclusive but clinical suspicion remains, further imaging such as bone scintigraphy or MRI may be offered to aid diagnosis.
