For adults with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis, the current first-line treatment options include a topical aminosalicylate as the initial therapy.

If remission is not achieved within 4 weeks, consider adding an oral aminosalicylate.

In cases where further treatment is needed, a time-limited course of corticosteroids may be considered.
