Refer a patient with suspected Huntington's disease to a specialist (such as a neurologist with expertise in movement disorders or a clinical genetics specialist) as soon as the diagnosis is suspected for further evaluation and management. This referral should be made promptly to confirm the diagnosis, provide genetic counselling, and initiate appropriate multidisciplinary care.

Specialist referral is important because Huntington's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder requiring expert assessment to differentiate it from other movement disorders and to offer genetic testing and family support.

Early referral allows for comprehensive management including symptom control, psychological support, and planning for future care needs.
