For uncomplicated genital chlamydia infection, a test of cure (TOC) is not routinely recommended . However, a TOC is indicated in specific situations: during pregnancy, when poor compliance with treatment is suspected, or if symptoms persist . If a TOC is performed, it should be deferred for at least 3 weeks after the completion of treatment .

Beyond TOC, follow-up procedures include asking about adherence to treatment and the resolution of symptoms . It is also important to check that partner notification has been carried out and to reinforce health education .

To check for re-infection, repeat testing should be offered to all individuals under the age of 25 years who have been diagnosed with chlamydia, 3–6 months after completing treatment . For individuals over 25 years who are at high risk of re-infection, repeat testing should be considered . Partner notification is essential to reduce the risk of re-infection, and all sexual partners should be encouraged to undergo full STI screening .
