For an infant with mild bronchiolitis in a primary care setting, advise that bronchiolitis is usually self-limiting and symptoms peak between 3 and 5 days of onset .

Provide self-care advice, including using paracetamol or ibuprofen to treat distress caused by fever .

Encourage parents or carers to monitor the child's hydration, and advise continued breastfeeding if applicable .

Assess the child's oxygen saturation if pulse oximetry is available, but routine testing is not necessary for mild cases .

Advise parents/carers to watch for signs of deterioration, such as increased work of breathing, dehydration, or persistent hypoxia, and to seek medical help if these occur .
