Current NICE guidelines for screening for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) in men specify actions for those aged 66 or over, rather than 65.

Primary healthcare professionals are advised to inform all men aged 66 or over who have not already been screened about the NHS AAA screening programme, and advise them that they can self-refer ,. Additionally, men aged 66 or over should be encouraged to self-refer if they have not already been screened and have risk factors such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), coronary, cerebrovascular or peripheral arterial disease, a family history of AAA, hyperlipidaemia, hypertension, or if they smoke or used to smoke ,.

While the direct actions for healthcare professionals begin at age 66, it is noted that the NHS England information leaflet for the AAA screening programme is titled "Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening, a free test for men aged 65 and over" .
