A 30-year-old male develops a nosebleed (epistaxis) while playing rugby. He has been pinching his nose for 20 minutes without success and is still bleeding profusely. He is becoming pale and tachycardic. Blood is flowing from both nostrils and also posteriorly into the pharynx. What pre-hospital interventions are appropriate for uncontrolled epistaxis with haemodynamic compromise?
