A 68-year-old man with a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease presents with increased breathlessness, productive cough with purulent sputum and wheeze over three days. On examination his temperature is 37.8 degrees Celsius, respiratory rate 24 breaths per minute and oxygen saturation 90 percent on air. There are widespread wheezes and no signs of consolidation. What is the most appropriate immediate management in primary care
